Dosage
Adults: dosage is individualized. Maximum single dose is 3 tablets and maximum daily dose is 8 tablets.
Indications
Epilepsy, mainly generalized tonic-clonic seizures; status epilepticus adjunctive use; prevention of seizures in neurosurgery; selected arrhythmias and trigeminal neuralgia in some cases.
Directions
Take orally exactly as prescribed. Dose is selected individually according to therapeutic response.
Pharmacological Properties
Phenytoin stabilizes neuronal membranes and limits spread of seizure activity; it also has antiarrhythmic properties.
